What is a Mini Facelift?

The mini facelift focuses on two areas: the midface and the jawline. Using smaller incisions than are employed during a traditional facelift, Dr. Hutchinson creates a natural, more youthful look without producing an unnatural “operated look”. This procedure can address early signs of facial aging, such as fine lines and sagging skin, without the long recovery period associated with a traditional facelift.

While there are some limitations to what it can achieve, it is an excellent option for younger patients who want to achieve tighter, smoother skin and improve contours in their face and jawline.

Who is a Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

While there isn’t a strict upper age limit for this surgery, the traditional version may be more suitable for older patients who have greater amounts of excess skin. During your consultation, Dr. Hutchinson will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan and address all your concerns.

A mini facelift is suitable for patients who:

  • Want to address fine lines and excess skin in the mid or lower part of the face
  • Prefer a short recovery period due to lifestyle considerations
  • Are interested in obtaining moderate improvements in their appearance before significant signs of aging become noticeable

As with any procedure, it is also extremely important that you:

  • Be in good physical and mental health
  • Maintain a healthy diet and weight
  • Refrain from smoking
  • Have realistic expectations for possible results

    What Are the Benefits?

    • Lighter anesthesia: Intravenous sedation is all that is needed for this procedure, as general anesthesia is not necessary
    • Easier recovery: The recovery from a mini facelift is less intense than for traditional facelifts
    • Fewer scars: The mini lift requires limited incisions resulting in short, imperceptible scars hidden in the face’s natural folds

    A Personalized Gallery of Results

Your privacy is a top priority for us. Instead of sharing Mini Facelift results online, we offer a private gallery of before-and-after photos during your consultation with Dr. Hutchinson. This ensures you can view real results in a secure, confidential setting, respecting your journey at all times.

    What Does the Procedure Involve?

Mini facelift surgeries typically only last about 1 hour. As incisions are minimal, patients usually only require light anesthesia with intravenous sedation.

After a mini facelift, it is normal to experience some swelling and bruising, but these are generally milder than after a full facelift and will resolve over the course of several days. Patients go home the same day once they have recovered from the mini lift. It is imperative, however, that you arrange for someone to escort you home.

What is the Recovery Process Like?

Once surgery has concluded, your face will be wrapped in a bandage which will cover the sutures and incisions. The overall recovery period can range from 1-2 weeks, during which time your sutures will be removed and swelling and bruising will gradually diminish. You should also refrain from vigorous physical exercise or strenuous activity for 2 weeks.
