Microsuction is an effective, minimally invasive technique that is known for its unique facial sculpting benefits. This procedure is among the most popular options for improving the appearance of the lower jaw and upper neck, thanks to its ability to refine lower face contours and firm the skin.

Key Benefits of Microsuction

  • Defines the jawline and reduces a double chin
  • Creates only tiny incisions that are barely visible
  • Removes fat and stimulates formation of new collagen for skin tightening
  • Postpones the need for invasive cosmetic neck surgery
  • Carries a low risk of complications
  • Requires minimal recovery time

Ideal Candidates for Microsuction

Microsuction is an excellent option for individuals who still have good elasticity in their skin and want to treat smaller areas of unwanted fat. They should be in overall good health, maintain proper diet and nutrition, and avoid smoking. Good candidates have realistic expectations for the procedure and fully understand the risks and recovery process.

Dr. Hutchinson was just wonderful. She took a lot of time to explain the procedure and answer my many questions during our initial consultation, called me a day or two after the procedure, and was always available when I had questions afterward. The office staff are very nice and put you at ease. And I am SO happy with the results. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone.

Microsuction Procedure Details

Microsuction is a low risk, minimally invasive procedure that takes approximately half an hour. It is typically done with the patient under local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Hutchinson will create a small, 1/4” incision either beneath the chin or behind the earlobes for access of a special instrument called a cannula.

The cannula will be used remove unwanted fat from the treatment area, leaving behind nearly invisible scars.

Microsuction is often performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery or other facial surgery but may also be a standalone procedure.

Downtime is minimal with microsuction. You will experience swelling for 1-2 weeks, with perhaps mild bruising. The area will continue to improve over time, with final results noted at around 2-3 months.
